THE REALITY The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a real recall on July 2, 2026 (Recall No. 26595) covering the X-Force Flex 14.60 Animal (RH99A2U1) and 15.60 Animal (RH99F2U1), affecting about 3,660 units — the lithium-ion battery in the handle (model ZR0097U2, date code starting 23 or 24) can overheat and ignite, a real fire and burn hazard. Rowenta's own filing reports 2 direct incident reports plus 65 more globally of the battery overheating or failing to charge. Notably, and worth stating honestly rather than only the alarming part: no injuries have been reported so far — this is a proactive recall catching a real defect before it caused reported harm, not a case where people were already hurt.
