Privacy Policy

PixPause ("we", "us") runs pixpause.com: free browser games, sourced product fact-checks ("PixProofs"), company profiles, a blog and a community section. This policy lists exactly what we collect, why, who processes it, and how to get it deleted. You can play every game and read every page without an account.

1. What we collect

• Your Google account, if you sign in. Google Sign-In gives us your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID. We store these in our database. Your email and Google ID are never shown to other visitors or returned by our public API.
• A sign-in session. When you sign in we create a random session token, kept in your browser's local storage. Our database stores only a one-way hash of it. It expires after 90 days or when you sign out.
• Scores and settings. Scores you set while signed in, your personal bests, your display name and avatar, and your site settings (sound, theme and similar). Scores set while signed out are stored without any link to you.
• Community content. Posts, comments, likes, reports, images you upload and video links you paste. Uploaded images are stored on Cloudflare R2 and served publicly.
• Custom-game enquiries. If you use the enquiry form: the name, email, company and project details you enter, plus the country your request came from and the page you came from.
• Analytics. Page views, rough location (country/city), device and browser type, and how long pages are used — see section 3.

2. Why we use it

• To run your account, leaderboard entries, personal bests and community posts (to provide the service you asked for).
• To answer custom-game enquiries you send us.
• To understand which games and pages people use, with your consent where the law requires it (analytics).
• To keep the site secure — for example limiting repeated wrong admin-password attempts by IP address.

We do not sell or rent personal data. Ad personalisation is handled by Google AdSense under your cookie choice (section 3a).

3. Cookies, local storage and analytics

• Google Analytics 4 sets cookies to count visits. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland these cookies stay off until you click Accept on our banner; elsewhere they are on unless you click Decline. Declining means Google receives only cookieless, aggregated signals. You can change your choice by clearing this site's data in your browser.
• Ahrefs Web Analytics measures page views without cookies and without identifying you.
• Google Sign-In may set Google cookies when you use the sign-in button.
• Local storage in your browser keeps your session token, consent choice, theme, sound settings and cached scores. It never leaves your device except the session token, which is sent to our API to prove who you are.

3a. Advertising

PixPause shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Your choice on our cookie banner also controls ad cookies: in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland they stay off until you click Accept; elsewhere, clicking Decline switches ads to non-personalised. You can also manage Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com, and see how Google uses data at Google's partner-sites policy.

4. Who processes the data

• Cloudflare hosts the site, database (D1) and image storage (R2), and processes IP addresses to deliver and protect it.
• Google provides sign-in, Google Analytics and AdSense advertising.
• Ahrefs provides cookieless page-view analytics.
• YouTube, X, TikTok and Vimeo load when you play a video embedded on a PixProof or community post, under their own privacy policies.

5. What's public

Your display name, avatar, scores and community posts, comments and images are visible to every visitor. Community content is published immediately; any signed-in user can report it, and admins can remove content that breaks our Terms of Service.

6. How long we keep it

Account data, scores and community content are kept while your account exists. Deleted or removed community content is hidden at once and purged from the database on request. Sign-in sessions expire after 90 days. Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics property. Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to reply and follow up.

7. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you, correct, export or delete your data, and you can withdraw analytics consent at any time. If you are in the EU, EEA or UK (GDPR / UK GDPR) you can also object to processing and complain to your data-protection authority. If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to know, delete and correct your data, and we do not sell or share personal information. Email [email protected] from the address on your account; we reply within 30 days.

7a. The PixPause Hype Check browser extension

The extension collects no personal data and sends nothing about your browsing to us or anyone else.

• What it downloads: one public file, pixpause.com/data/extension-index.json (our PixProofs, company facts and official recalls), about every 6 hours. It's the same for every user, so the download doesn't identify you or what you're looking at.
• What it reads: the product title and brand name on the page, only on the shopping, car, YouTube and brand websites listed in its permissions. It compares them with that file on your device.
• What it stores: a cached copy of that file and your "show the card" setting, in your browser's extension storage. Nothing leaves your device.
• What it never does: no analytics, no tracking, no ads, no account. It doesn't record the pages you visit, and it doesn't read forms, passwords or payment details.
• Links you click: opening a PixProof or search from the extension loads pixpause.com normally, and the rest of this policy applies. Those links carry utm_source=extension so we can count how many visits come from the extension, and nothing else.

Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it stored.

8. Children

PixPause is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we'll delete the account.
