Pick a map (the Crypt, or the Catacombs with spike traps and candlelight) and a hero: the Knight, Wizard or Rogue. Your weapons attack on their own, so all you do is move: steer through the horde, and walk over the blue gems monsters drop to fill your XP bar. Each time you level up, choose one of three upgrades: a new weapon (Sword Whirl, Magic Bolt, Throwing Daggers, Bone Axes or Fire Nova), a stronger version of one you have, or a power like Might, Haste, Swift Boots, Vigor, Magnet or Regeneration. Roast meat heals you and gold coins add points. An Orc Warlord arrives every minute and drops a treasure chest with a free upgrade. Bone Knights, Reapers and Vampires join the horde as time goes on. Dungeon Survivors is a horde-survival game in the style of Vampire Survivors, played right in the browser. You never press an attack button: weapons fire by themselves, and every decision is about where to move and which upgrade to take. Three heroes start with different weapons, and five weapons plus six powers can be mixed into a different build every run. The horde grows every minute, with an Orc Warlord boss each minute and a ring of skeletons that surrounds you twice. Two maps change how you move: the open Crypt, and the candlelit Catacombs, where spike traps hurt monsters as well as you.

There are two maps. The Crypt is an open stone dungeon. The Catacombs is darker and lit by candles, and it has spike traps that pop out of the floor: they hurt you and the monsters, so leading the horde over them is a good tactic.
A full run lasts 10 minutes. Survive until 10:00 to win. Most first runs end sooner, because the horde grows every minute and an Orc Warlord boss arrives each minute.
The Knight is the easiest start: he has the most health and his Sword Whirl hits everything around him. The Wizard hits from range but has less health, and the Rogue is the fastest and throws piercing daggers.
There are five weapons: Sword Whirl, Magic Bolt, Throwing Daggers, Bone Axes and Fire Nova, each with 5 levels. You can carry up to four, plus powers such as Might, Haste, Swift Boots, Vigor, Magnet and Regeneration.
