About Space Invaders

Space Invaders is a neon arcade wave shooter for PixPause. A 5×11 formation of alien invaders marches back and forth, descending a row each time they hit a wall. Shoot them all to clear the wave — but they get faster as their numbers thin. Reach you and it's game over.

Four destructible bunkers protect your cannon — aliens and your own shots chip away at them. A mystery UFO occasionally flies across the top of the screen for a big bonus. Each wave ramps up the starting speed, making surviving higher waves a true test of skill.

How to Play

1. Move your cannon left/right with ← → Arrow Keys or A / D.
2. Shoot with Spacebar or ↑ Arrow. Only one player bullet can be active at a time.
3. Aliens shoot back — dodge their bullets or hide behind a bunker.
4. Destroy all aliens to clear the wave. The next wave starts faster.
5. On mobile, use the ◀ FIRE ▶ buttons at the bottom.

Scoring

• 👾 Bottom row aliens — 10 points each
• 👽 Middle rows — 20 points each
• 🛸 Top rows — 30 points each
• 🛸 Mystery UFO — 50–300 bonus points (random)
• Wave clear bonus: wave number × 100

Strategy Tips

• Kill from the sides: Shoot the outermost column first. This slows the formation's descent rate, buying you more time.
• Use bunkers wisely: Duck behind a bunker when aliens are shooting, but don't let them erode your cover too much.
• Watch shot rhythm: You can only have one bullet in the air at once. Fire the moment your previous shot hits something so there's no wasted time.
• UFO timing: The UFO appears at regular intervals — the score multiplier depends on the number of shots you've fired, so conserve shots early for bigger bonuses.
