About Number Slide

Number Slide is a neon-styled 2048 tile-merging puzzle game. Slide all tiles in one direction — matching numbers merge into their sum. Merge 1024+1024 to create the legendary 2048 tile and win. But the board keeps filling up, so plan each move carefully — one bad swipe can cut off your options.

Three grid sizes are available: 4×4 (classic 2048), 5×5 (more space, higher potential scores), and 6×6 (maximum chaos). Each has its own independent high score. An undo button lets you take back your last move once per turn.

How to Play

  1. Use Arrow Keys or WASD on desktop to slide all tiles in one direction.
  2. On mobile, swipe up, down, left, or right to slide.
  3. When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one tile with their combined value.
  4. After every move, a new tile (2 or 4) appears in a random empty cell.
  5. Reach the 2048 tile to win — then keep going for an even higher score!
  6. The game ends when no valid moves remain (board full with no adjacent matches).

Scoring

  • Each merge awards points equal to the value of the new tile — merging two 64s gives +128 points.
  • Multiple merges in a single swipe each score independently.
  • High scores are saved per grid size — your 4×4 best and 6×6 best are tracked separately.
  • The theoretical maximum score on a 4×4 board is over 3.9 million points.

Strategy Tips

  • Corner strategy: Keep your highest tile locked in one corner (e.g. top-left) and never move it. Build a descending chain of tiles from that corner.
  • Two-direction habit: For most of the game, you only need two directions — for example, left and down. This keeps your high tiles in the corner and prevents mixing.
  • Don't swipe up (or away from your corner): Moving tiles away from your corner disrupts the chain and often leads to a dead end.
  • Build rows: Aim to fill entire rows with a descending sequence (e.g. 512 → 256 → 128 → 64). One swipe collapses the whole row.
  • Use undo wisely: Save undo for the moment a critical merge accidentally moves your corner tile, not just to undo bad swipes.
