About Pong Duel

Pong Duel is a neon-charged take on the arcade paddle classic that started it all. You control the left paddle, the AI controls the right — your goal is to deflect the ball past your opponent to score. First player to reach 7 points wins the duel. Simple rules, infinite depth.

What elevates Pong Duel beyond the original is its three-tier AI system, rally streak counter, and three power-ups that can completely flip the momentum mid-game. The golden Speed-Up orb accelerates the ball, the purple Big Paddle temporarily doubles your paddle height, and the red Curve Ball adds a spin effect that bends the ball's trajectory after bouncing. Mastering when to chase and when to ignore power-ups is the difference between a beginner and a champion.

How to Play

  1. Use W/S or the ↑/↓ arrow keys to move your paddle up and down.
  2. Deflect the ball to the right side so it passes the AI's paddle and scores a point for you.
  3. Chase power-up orbs that appear mid-court for game-changing effects.
  4. The ball speeds up slightly with every rally hit — stay sharp at high streaks!
  5. First to 7 points wins the duel. After each point the ball resets to centre.

Tips & Strategy

  • Aim for the edges: If you hit the ball with the very tip of your paddle, it bounces at a sharp angle the AI finds difficult to react to — especially on Medium difficulty.
  • Chase the Big Paddle power-up: Doubling your paddle size for several seconds removes almost all defensive pressure, letting you focus entirely on offensive placement.
  • Don't chase Speed-Up: The golden orb makes the ball faster for both players. At lower difficulty levels it hurts you more than the AI, since the AI reaction time scales with speed automatically.
  • On Hard mode: The AI has near-perfect tracking. Your only reliable strategy is sharp-angle returns from the paddle edges and exploiting the Curve Ball power-up to add unpredictable spin.
