About Block Stacker

Block Stacker is a neon-drenched retro puzzle game built around the timeless mechanic of stacking falling geometric blocks. Seven uniquely shaped pieces — straight bars, L-shapes, S-shapes, T-shapes and more — drop from the top of a 10×20 grid. Your job is to rotate and position them so they form complete horizontal lines, which then clear and score you points.

What makes Block Stacker stand out is its full feature set: a ghost piece shows exactly where your block will land; a hold system lets you save a piece for later; three visible next pieces let you plan ahead; and a combo multiplier rewards players who clear multiple lines in quick succession. Speed ramps across 15 levels, turning a casual puzzle into a white-knuckle challenge by level 10.

How to Play

  1. Blocks fall from the top of the 10×20 grid. Use the arrow keys to move them left, right, or down.
  2. Press Z or X (or the rotate buttons on mobile) to rotate pieces clockwise or counter-clockwise.
  3. Press C to hold the current piece and swap it with your held piece — use this strategically.
  4. Press ↑ (or the up button) for a hard drop — instantly drops the piece to the lowest possible position for bonus points.
  5. Complete a full horizontal row to clear it. Clearing 4 rows at once (a "Stack Slam") scores maximum points.
  6. The game ends when blocks stack up to the top of the grid.

Tips & Strategy

  • Keep the stack flat: Uneven towers are the #1 cause of death. Prioritise filling holes and keeping the surface level over chasing perfect placements.
  • Save the I-piece: The straight bar is the only piece that clears 4 rows at once (a Stack Slam). Hold it until you've built up a tall column on one side specifically for this — the point multiplier is enormous.
  • Use the hold slot as a buffer: Don't just hold pieces randomly. Use hold to skip a piece that doesn't fit, and retrieve it when the board opens up.
  • Hard drop everything: At higher levels the pieces fall too fast for soft placement. Get in the habit of positioning and hard-dropping so you maintain control even at level 12+.
